Bournemouth vs Liverpool - Match preview and team news

Liverpool face a potentially tricky FA Cup tie on Saturday as they make the trip to the seaside to take on Championship club Bournemouth.

After promotion last season, Eddie Howe’s men have acquitted themselves well at a higher level, proving to be competitive in most of their league matches so far. Consolidation was the aim at the beginning of the season, and as it stands, they are in a very good position to do so despite their inconsistency, as they lie in 16th place, seven points clear of the relegation zone.

After losing away to Oldham Athletic at this stage last season, Brendan Rodgers will not be taking Bournemouth lightly. The Reds did have enough to beat the Latics at Anfield this time around, but that victory was unconvincing. Also unconvincing was their performance against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday, as their draw meant that they lost ground on the top three.

Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban should start after signing a new three and-a-half year contract with the club during the week.

The away side are having to deal with a growing injury crisis. Lucas Leiva and Glen Johnson will now be out for a lengthy period of time, while Daniel Agger, Jose Enrique and Mamadou Sakho are still on the sidelines.
