West Ham bid for Leeds captain McCormack

West Ham United have lodged a bid for Leeds United captain Ross McCormack, according to Sky Sports.

Ross McCormack

McCormack signed a new long-term deal with the Championship club last summer as Leeds looked to retain the player’s services.

The Hammers though have turned to the 27-year-old in a bid to bolster their attacking options as they seek to turn a possible relegation fight in their favour.

The West Yorkshire side have previously rejected several bids for the player, notably from Middlesbrough, with the Scotland international lighting up the Championship this season as the league’s top scorer with 17 goals.

In a bid to secure the midfielder, Leeds manager Brian McDermott made McCormack his captain this season but a bid from a Premier League side looks set to test his resolve.

West Ham currently sit in the relegation zone joint on 18 points with Sunderland and Cardiff and will be hoping to bring McCormack to Upton Park as one of three new signings before the transfer window closes.
