Roma striker Borriello set for West Ham talks

Marco Borriello is flying to London to hold to talks with West Ham United over a possible loan move to the Premier League strugglers, according to Sky Sports.

The Roma striker is keen to force his way into the reckoning to make the Italy World Cup squad, which will be selected by national team coach Cesare Prandelli in May. West Ham have been chasing strikers throughout January, but have so far been unable to attract any players to the Boleyn Ground.

The Serie A high-flyers are reportedly unwilling to allow Borriello to leave on a permanent basis, but would be happy to sanction a loan move for the 31-year-old, who has made 11 appearances for Roma this season, but has only played the full 90 minutes once.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce will be hoping that a deal for Borriello can be confirmed in the next week, having experienced considerable frustration so far in the transfer market. He is looking to bolster a squad which finds itself in the relegation zone, with their lack of goals being the main contributing factor.
