Lambert praises Aston Villa new boys Bertrand and Holt
Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has said his side have been given a huge lift by new players Ryan Bertrand and Grant Holt ahead of the derby against West Brom, according to avfc.co.uk.
The 44-year-old boss has been delighted with the performances of the defender and striker, particularly in their outing in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool in their last Premier league match.
"The two lads who have come in have been excellent for us,” said Lambert.
"Ryan came in and I thought he was excellent in the game.
"Last week at Liverpool, he fitted in as if he had been here for years. He is a really good player who can develop into a right top one.”
Left-back Bertrand joined from Chelsea and Holt from Wigan with both players making their debuts in the Liverpool game.
The Scot also went on to say how Holt has made a real impression off the pitch as well as on it in the build up to the derby.
"Holty has been fantastic around the place with us. He is a good guy and a good character. He did well when he came on.
"There's no doubt they have given us a lift,” added Lambert.
"People probably questioned why we brought in Holty, but I knew what I was getting - on and off the pitch. He's been bubbly.”
