Swansea vs Fulham - Premier League preview and team news

By Stephen Donovan

Tuesday 28 January 2014

Both sides will be battling hard for all three points on Tuesday when Swansea City host Fulham in a crucial clash between two sides just above the drop zone.

Most of the pressure will be on Swansea, as they are the home side. Michael Laudrup’s future has been the subject of some debate over recent days, and the last couple of months have quickly become the club’s most testing period since they were promoted to the Premier League in 2011. There is also room for improvement at the Liberty Stadium, where they have won just twice in the league all season.

Fulham are teetering on the brink of the relegation zone and looking very convincing each time they take to the field, but on the other hand, they are only two wins away from a place in the top half. This match may take place just two days since their FA Cup draw with Sheffield United, but Rene Meulensteen will be expected to make many changes from the side which he selected at Bramall Lane.

Swansea are hoping that Jonathan de Guzman, Nathan Dyer and Jonjo Shelvey will be able to return from injury. Meanwhile, David N’Gog could make his debut after arriving from Bolton Wanderers.

John Arne Riise is likely to miss out after being forced off on Sunday, and Fernando Amorebieta is also a major doubt.
