Manchester United manager David Moyes has said that underperforming players will be shipped out, Sky Sports has reported.

Moyes has signed Juan Mata this month but there have been more exits than arrivals, with Anderson and Wilfried Zaha both leaving on loan, to Fiorentina and Cardiff City respectively. Fabio da Silva is to follow Zaha to Cardiff on a permanent deal.

“I am not going to accept it,” Moyes said when asked about the team’s poor results. “I am disappointed we are not in a much stronger position. I am disappointed with how we have played.

“I, ultimately, take the rap for that. But what I will do is make it right. I am going to get better players in. Unfortunately I don't think there will be more in January. But it will change. I have given every player the opportunity to play and show what they can do. We have had a pretty good chance to have a look at it.

“The players have to perform. If they want to be here and making sure they have a jersey, they have to show it in the games. Undoubtedly this club wants to be at the top. We want to be challenging. At this moment in time we have failed to do that. We want to do something about it.”

United, having been champions by 11 points from Manchester City last season, are currently 13 points adrift of their near neighbours and 14 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Ahead of the midweek game with Cardiff, now managed by United icon Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Moyes’ side are seventh in the Premier League table.
