Tottenham vs Man City - Premier League preview and team news

Wednesday 29 January 2014

Manchester City travel to Tottenham on Wednesday with the home side looking to avenge their 6-0 thrashing at the Etihad Stadium in November.

That result took place when Tottenham were being managed by Andre Villas-Boas, and since his sacking, the Spurs players seem to have come out of their shell, and have returned to playing exciting, attacking football under Head Coach Tim Sherwood. The new boss has also managed to get the best out of Emmanuel Adebayor, who scored two more goals as they won at Swansea City to close the gap to Liverpool.

There may have been a touch of complacency among the Man City players as they took on Watford in the FA Cup on Saturday. They eventually made it through despite that scare, however, continuing a winning run which has been going since mid-December. Sergio Aguero also added three more to his season’s tally, and in doing so ensured that a potential quadruple is still on for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

Tottenham duo Sandro and Jan Vertonghen could return from injury, as could Erik Lamela, though the Italian remains a slight doubt.

David Silva and Alvaro Negredo could return for Man City after missing the game against Watford, but Samir Nasri still faces around six weeks out.
