Fulham vs Southampton - Premier League preview and team news

Friday 31 January 2014

Struggling Fulham will be aiming for their first Premier League win since New Year’s Day as they take on Southampton at Craven Cottage.

The Londoners lost a crucial game last time out in their battle against relegation as Swansea City defeated them thanks to two deflected goals. Head Coach Rene Meulensteen was left to rue missed chances as his side slipped back into the relegation zone, and with a difficult run of games coming up, they can ill afford anything other than a win here, which would be just their fourth at home all season.

Visitors Southampton come into this having dominated then Premier League leaders Arsenal for long periods of the game on Tuesday evening, so there will have been some disappointment that they were unable to collect all three points. It was, however, further proof of the giant strides that the club have made this season, and they should still be full of confidence.

Fulham could give a debut to new loan signing William Kvist, who joined from Stuttgart on Thursday. Fernando Amorebieta and John Arne Riise could both return from injury.

Dejan Lovren and Gaston Ramirez will both be out for Southampton, who hope to be able to keep hold of Luke Shaw beyond Friday’s transfer deadline.
