Mourinho hints at big Chelsea summer signing
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has suggested that he will make a big-name addition in the summer, ESPN has reported.
Mourinho told a Press conference that other than Kurt Zouma, who moved to Stamford Bridge for £21.5m on transfer deadline day, there would be no activity at the club.
But the Portuguese did hint that the summer will be different, with the player he wants already in mind.
“We don't sign a striker now as an emergency plan to score half a dozen goals to give us half a dozen extra points, whatever they mean for us,” Mourinho said.
“So we're waiting for the summer to do the right thing in that area. But no deals. We just know basically what we want, and we know what we want is impossible to get in this transfer window.”
Mourinho has also signed Nemanja Matic from Benfica and Mohamed Salah from Basel this month. The former, a ball-winning midfielder, was sold to Benfica as part of the deal to sign David Luiz in 2011, while Egypt winger Salah was taken from under the noses of Liverpool.
