Arsenal vs Crystal Palace - Premier League preview and team news

By Stephen Donovan

Sunday 02 February 2014

After dropping points at Southampton, Arsenal will be aiming to reclaim top spot - at least temporarily - with a win over a resurgent Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Arsenal found themselves under the cosh for long periods of the game at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday, but came away with a point courtesy of two quick-fire goals early in the second half. It was their first slip-up since before Christmas, but it allowed Manchester City to move a point ahead of them with their win at Tottenham the following evening.

While the Gunners only made one January signing, Crystal Palace were among the busiest Premier League clubs during the transfer window, particularly on deadline day itself as no fewer than five players arrived at Selhurst Park. Tony Pulis will be hoping that the new faces can continue their impressive form, which has seen them rise from rock-bottom to 14th, their highest league position of the season.

The Gunners are without the suspended Mathieu Flamini, and injured quartet Kim Kallstrom, Theo Walcott, Abou Diaby and Yaya Sanogo.

Jonathan Parr is unlikely to feature for Crystal Palace, as the full-back still has concussion, while Jerome Thomas and Kagisho Dikgacoi are also out.
