Swansea set for backroom reshuffle

Swansea’s owners are considering a coaching reshuffle with the make-up of Michael Laudrup’s staff set to be changed, according to BBC Sport.

The change of the managerial team will cloud the future of manager Laudrup’s current staff as well as that of the manager himself, it is claimed.

Long-serving club skipper Gary Monk is expected to take up a coaching post, alongside Pep Clotet who looks set for promotion.

Monk has been considered as management material whilst he is currently studying for his UEFA A license and Clotet is thought to have impressed club chairman Huw Jenkins with his running on Swansea’s youth set-up.

The shake-up has cast doubt over the Swansea managerial team after the move happened whilst Laudrup was away in Paris following the 2-0 defeat to West Ham.

Swansea have won just once in their last ten games and now sit just two points above the relegation zone, despite being in 12th place.

However Chairman Jenkins has denied any rumours that the 49-year-old is set to be the first Swans boss sacked in ten years.

“I haven't heard anything in reference to Michael and neither have we met, or discussed, or done anything about Michael,” said Jenkins.

“A couple of us did actually meet up on Sunday morning to have a cup of coffee like we normally do. That's as simple as it was. That's where the first rumour came from.”
