Swansea City could offer Graeme Jones the chance to replace Michael Laudrup as manager, the Daily Telegraph has reported, which would be the fourth time the Everton assistant boss has been approached by the Welsh club.

Graeme Jones with Roberto Martinez

Jones assisted Roberto Martinez during his time at Swansea, later moving with the Spaniard to Wigan and, last summer, Everton.

Laudrup was sacked on Tuesday night with experienced defender Garry Monk put in temporary charge, alongside first team coach Alan Curtis.

The Telegraph claims Jones is now open to taking over at the Liberty Stadium and is the first choice of the Swans for the post.

He was first offered the position in 2009 when Martinez left for Wigan, with a second approach coming in 2010 following the departure of Paulo Sousa and again in 2012 when Brendan Rodgers decamped for Liverpool. Rodgers was replaced by Laudrup.

Laudrup won the Capital One Cup in his first season in charge and leaves Swansea in 12th place in the Premier League table.

Jones, 43, was a striker in his playing days, scoring 44 goals in 96 games for Wigan and appearing for a number of clubs in England and Scotland.
