Norwich vs Man City - Premier League preview and team news

By Stephen Donovan

Friday 07 February 2014

Manchester City will be looking to bounce back from their shock home defeat to Chelsea by beating Norwich City in a fixture which always seems to produce plenty of goals.

Chris Hughton’s men conceded seven without reply at the Etihad Stadium back in November, but although their defensive record has improved greatly since then, they are still very much involved in the battle for survival. After four points from two home games, they looked set to move even further clear of the bottom three in their previous game, only to concede twice in the space of a minute to lose to Cardiff City, despite a strong performance.

Here, the Canaries can expect a reaction from a Manchester City side which was outfought by title rivals Chelsea, who demonstrated to the rest of the Premier League how to keep Manuel Pellegrini’s team quiet. However, they are still many people’s favourites to lift the title in May, and they continue to battle on all four fronts. Indeed, should Arsenal drop points at Liverpool, victory at Carrow Road will lift the 2012 champions back to the summit.

For Norwich, defender Ryan Bennett is doubtful with a thigh injury, while Jonathan Howson, Elliott Bennett and Michael Turner are definitely out.

Javi Garcia could return for Man City, but Pellegrini is still without three key players in Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho and Samir Nasri.
