Ninth placed Southampton welcome Stoke City to the St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, with both sides looking to build on morale-boosting wins last time out.

The trio of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Jay Rodriguez were all on top form as Southampton took Fulham apart in the second half of their game at Craven Cottage. It was a performance which suggested that the Saints are well on their way to rediscovering the form they showed in the early weeks of the campaign, and also did the goal scorers no harm at all in their bid to represent England at this summer’s World Cup.

Stoke lie only two places behind their hosts in the table, but the sides are separated by a massive 10 points, even after Charlie Adam inspired the Potters to a wonderful home win over champions Manchester United. The result came at a crucial time, as defeats away to struggling duo Crystal Palace and Sunderland looked to leave them in serious danger. Indeed, they actually began their game against Man Utd in the bottom three.

Youngster Sam Gallagher misses out for Southampton due to a family bereavement. Mauricio Pochettino will also be without injured pair Dejan Lovren and Gaston Ramirez.

Defender Robert Huth is definitely out for Stoke, who have doubts over forwards Marko Arnautovic and Jonathan Walters.
