Hull vs Southampton - Premier League preview and team news

By Stephen Donovan

Tuesday 11 February 2014

Hull City play Southampton at the KC Stadium on Tuesday, looking for their first home win since December 28.

It took them until Saturday to register their first Premier League victory of 2014, and it came at an important time as they were beginning to slip dangerously close to the relegation zone. There were many positive aspects of their performance at Subderland, as new signings Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long both found the net in a game the Tigers totally dominated against 10 men.

Mauricio Pochettino was left somewhat frustrated after his Southampton side twice squandered the lead to draw with Stoke City, and thus missed the chance to leapfrog Newcastle United into eighth. The result meant that the Saints have only won three Premier League games since they beat Hull in the reverse fixture back in November.

Goalkeeper Allan McGregor completes his three match ban for Hull, who have doubts over the fitness of Liam Rosenior.

Southampton are still without injured duo Dejan Lovren and Gaston Ramirez, who are both likely to be out for several more weeks.
