Pardew wants more from Cisse
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is expecting a better second half of the season from Papiss Cisse, Sky Sports has reported, with the manager admitting if there isn’t an improvement, the striker could be sold in the summer.
Cisse has only scored once in the league this season - compared with 13 in his first 14 games after joining in January 2012 - and has fallen out of favour behind loan signing Loic Remy.
“[Cisse] needs to have a big second half of the season for the summer,” Pardew said.
“We are going to have to make a decision with Papiss: whether he is going to stay at this club and be a big player for us like he was two years ago and last year to a degree, or whether it's going to be pastures new.”
Cisse is currently on the injured list after hurting his back on the club’s warm-weather training trip to Abu Dhabi in January.
The Magpies signed Cisse from Freiburg, where he scored 39 goals in 67 games, having scored 52 times in 147 appearances during his career in France.
Cisse has a total 29 goals in 79 games for Newcastle.
