Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has stated he will not rise to Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho’s mind games, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Jose Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini

Last week the Portuguese boss accused Manchester City of getting favourable refereeing decisions this season, with reference to Yaya Toure escaping a ban following an incident against Norwich at the weekend. The 60-year-old has claimed that he will not respond to his Chelsea counterpart’s comments any longer.

The Chilean then hit back by claiming that Chelsea had spent the most money of all the teams in the Premier League, only for Mourinho to respond with what he argued was the proper math. Pellegrini has since claimed that he will not respond to his Chelsea counterpart’s comments any longer.

“I don’t think they are mind games or that any managers will be affected by those sorts of things,” Pellegrini said.

“But if you remain always silent you may agree with some things.

“He (Mourinho) started talking about referees and FFP, so I responded just once or we continue talking about things. I just answered once.

“I do not respond to things Mourinho says every week, otherwise he will continue to talk about things not involving football

“I will not continue every week talking about things that for me are not an important level.”

Manchester City and Chelsea will meet in the FA Cup fifth round at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
