Robinson in contention for England recall

Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson is in contention for an England recall after his impressive form for the Championship club, according to Sky Sports.

The 34-year-old has impressed so far this season, including three clean sheets in his last four league appearances.


Despite retiring from international football in 2010, the Blackburn shot stopper could be surprise call up for England manager Roy Hodgson.


The former Tottenham man was a part of England’s Euro 2004 and 2006 World Cup campaigns and has 41 caps for his national side between 2003 and 2007.


Robinson was backed for England in 2012 by his then manager Steve Kean, but he was quick to rule himself out of the picture.


The goalkeeper had spent time on the sidelines following a blood clot but made a return to playing action this season in some impressive performances against Manchester City in the FA Cup.


Now his performances have caught the eye of Hodgson and the England staff a spot in the 23-man squad this summer could be in his future.
