Santi Cazorla believes his Arsenal teammate Olivier Giroud is as good a player as any striker in the Premier League, ESPN has reported.

The Spain international put his French colleague on par with the likes of Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero, despite Giroud having scored 10 times to Suarez’s 23.

But speaking to the French media, Cazorla revealed he feels Giroud is not only as good as his Premier League rivals, but is getting better all the time. “He's playing at a great level and improves year on year,” Cazorla said.

“He's at the same level as the other forwards in the league,” Cazorla continued. “He's strong and can keep the ball. In the penalty box, he's effective, whether that be with both feet or his head. He's a bit different to what you usually see in England, but he brings us a lot.

“He's a great striker, and we've seen that since the start of the season. He's also doing great things with the French national team.”

Giroud moved to the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2012, having won the Ligue 1 title with Montpellier.

The 27-year-old has scored 31 goals in 80 games for the Gunners, helping Arsenal to second place in the league table.
