Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed his happiness at hitting the goal trail for Tottenham Hotspur, ESPN has reported, with the striker admitting he hasn’t been so prolific since he played for Arsenal.

Adebayor scored twice on Wednesday evening as Spurs beat Newcastle 4-0 at St. James’ Park, his fourth and fifth goals in his last five appearances.

The Togolese had been frozen out of the first team under Andre Villas-Boas but after Tim Sherwood was appointed in Villas-Boas’ place in December, Adebayor has been given a new lease of life.

“The last time I was scoring like this was at Arsenal,” Adebayor said. “The manager gave me a chance to play and has a big belief in me. The aim is to keep enjoying my football and see what I can achieve.”

Adebayor scored 46 goals in 104 games for the Gunners, including 30 in 2007-08. He moved to Manchester City in 2009 but found goals harder to come by, scoring14 in his only full season at the Etihad Stadium.

He had five goals in 14 games in 2010 but joined Real Madrid on loan for the second half of the season, scoring eight times in 22 appearances for the Spanish giants.

A loan move to Spurs followed and Adebayor claimed 18 goals in 37 games, but scored only eight in 34 after making the move permanent ahead of last season. So far this year, the 29-year-old has nine goals in 13 games.
