According to reports in Italy, Inter are interested in signing Tottenham winger Erik Lamela and are in talks with the player’s agent ahead of a potential move, writes the Metro.

Erik Lamela

Lamela became Tottenham’s record signing when he joined for £30m from Roma last summer, but has found exceptionally difficult to settle in England, and as a result he has made relatively few appearances, with many of outings coming in the Europa League.

The 21-year-old who has scored just once for Spurs, is currently sidelined by a back injury, but has often found himself behind the likes of Christian Eriksen, Nacer Chadli, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andros Townsend in the pecking order.

Inter were reportedly close to signing Lamela in the January transfer window, but are looking to return with an improved offer at the end of the season, with Italian newspaper the Corriere Dello Sport claiming that the Serie A club are in talks with the player’s agent, and that Lamela is keen to play under their manager, Walter Mazarri.

Again? Lamela being 'linked' to Inter and other Italian clubs is like the hokey-cokey! Here's an idea: Lamela is one of the most highly rated young players in World football...that is why he is constantly being linked 'everywhere' despite being a 'massive flop'. In reality, he is no more of a 'massive flop' than Cristiano Ronaldo was in his first season at Old Trafford - Ronaldo, for who's first season the MOTD pundits spend laughing and describing him as doing pointless step-overs and then falling over. Would have been nice if the media had left this 21 year old, in a new country and footballing culture, to settle in peace - after-all, overseas players often take a season to settle, let alone 21 YO's. But the media have to worry it like a half peeled scab - I guess that is just what they do.
