Tottenham winger Lamela emerges as Inter target
Wednesday 19 February 2014
According to reports in Italy, Inter are interested in signing Tottenham winger Erik Lamela and are in talks with the player’s agent ahead of a potential move, writes the Metro.
Lamela became Tottenham’s record signing when he joined for £30m from Roma last summer, but has found exceptionally difficult to settle in England, and as a result he has made relatively few appearances, with many of outings coming in the Europa League.
The 21-year-old who has scored just once for Spurs, is currently sidelined by a back injury, but has often found himself behind the likes of Christian Eriksen, Nacer Chadli, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andros Townsend in the pecking order.
Inter were reportedly close to signing Lamela in the January transfer window, but are looking to return with an improved offer at the end of the season, with Italian newspaper the Corriere Dello Sport claiming that the Serie A club are in talks with the player’s agent, and that Lamela is keen to play under their manager, Walter Mazarri.
