Liverpool youngster Ibe joins Birmingham on loan
Liverpool have loaned young winger Jordan Ibe to Championship side Birmingham City for the rest of the season, Sky Sports has reported.
Ibe is available for the Blues’ next league fixture, an away game at Blackpool, and trained with his new teammates on Friday.
The 18-year-old began his career at Wycombe Wanderers before switching to Anfield in December 2011, making only 11 appearances for the Chairboys before heading for Merseyside, scoring one goal.
Ibe has been on the fringes of the first team under Brendan Rodgers, making two appearances so far this season - the first in the League Cup win over Notts County in August, where Ibe started the match and played the full 120 minutes of the 4-2 extra-time win.
His second appearance of the campaign came as a late substitute in Liverpool’s 5-1 win over Arsenal earlier in February, replacing Steven Gerrard for the final 15 minutes of the match.
Birmingham are currently 18th in the Championship, nine points clear of the bottom three, but with only two wins in their last 10 games. Lee Clarke’s side have lost their last two, including to Clarke’s former team Huddersfield in their last league outing.
