Liverpool vs Swansea - Premier League preview and team news

Liverpool will be looking to notch a third straight Premier League win against a Swansea City side looking much improved in recent games.

Brendan Rodgers and his team will have been very frustrated at the manner of their FA Cup exit at the hands of Arsenal last time out, as they will have felt that they had done enough to earn at least a replay. However, Champions League qualification is their main objective, and they are going about things well, with leaders Chelsea just four points ahead of Reds, so the title is not yet out of the question.

Swansea delivered their best performance for several months against Napoli in the Europa League on Tuesday, only for superb goalkeeping to deny them a wonderful victory. It underlined the improvement that has been seen so far under Garry Monk, with an FA Cup defeat to Everton being the only blot on his copybook as four points have been gained from two Premier League outings.

Glen Johnson could make his return for a Liverpool side still missing the services of central defender Mamadou Sakho and midfielder Lucas Leiva.

The Welsh club’s only injury worry concerns Miguel Michu, who is nearing fitness after a lengthy spell out with an ankle injury.
