Redknapp on the brink at QPR

Harry Redknapp’s future at Queens Park Rangers is in doubt after the Championship club’s attempt to return to the Premier League took another blow with defeat at Charlton on Saturday, the Metro has reported.

Former Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup is the candidate to take over at Loftus Road, according to a report by the Times. Laudrup was sacked by Swansea City earlier in the season having led the Welsh club to victory in the League Cup last year.

QPR have slipped to fourth in the second tier after a run of four games without a win, which includes three consecutive defeats against Derby County, Reading and Charlton. Championship leaders Leicester City are 15 points ahead of the R’s, while Burnley, who occupy the final automatic promotion place, are seven clear.

Leeds provide QPR’s next opposition and it is claimed a disappointing result in that fixture could bring the end of Redknapp’s time at the club.

Redknapp was unable to prevent QPR’s relegation from the top flight last season after replacing Mark Hughes in November 2012. The 66-year-old was formerly in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth, Southampton, West Ham and Bournemouth.
