Van Gaal waits on Tottenham decision
Tottenham Hotspur are close to making a decision regarding the possible appointment of Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal as their new manager, according to ESPN.
The London side have held extensive talks with the 62-year-old and they could be close to decisively appointing him as the successor to Tim Sherwood as first-team Coach.
The former Barcelona boss is to step down from his post as Netherlands Coach after this summer’s World Cup and has said that his next challenge could be in the Premier League.
Van Gaal dropped the biggest hint at the Euro 2016 qualifying draw on Sunday as when asked if he would be managing Spurs in the future, he said: "Maybe Tottenham are coming.”
Current Spurs boss Sherwood took over from the sacked Andre Villas-Boas in December and has since impressed with the team’s performances.
Despite his good run as coach, the club’s hierarchy are not sure if Sherwood is fully ready for the job and feel that they would benefit with a manager with more experience.
Van Gaal has impressed in several different leagues, having coached Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Ajax and could be the man to fit the description Spurs are looking for.
Tottenham are currently fifth in the Premier League, six points behind Liverpool and the final Champions League spot.
