Mourinho prepares for striker comment fallout
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is expected to face the press today and defend comments that his current side will not win the league because they lack a goalscorer, according to Sky Sports.
Mourinho was caught off camera by a French news channel reportedly bemoaning a lack of strikers as he conducted a private conversation with a Swiss businessman, unaware he was being filmed.
"Will we win the title? No, we don't have any scorer. Samuel Eto'o? He is 32-years-old, maybe 35," he told Canal+.
While the Blues boss did not mention fellow strikers Fernando Torres and Demba Ba it is thought his comments are inherently critical of all his attacking options, before going on to say he needs at sign a striker and singling out Radamel Falcao.
Mourinho added: “I need a striker and Radamel Falcao needs a club. A player like him cannot play in front of 3,000 people. Monaco are a club you end your career with."
It is thought that the Portuguese will now be looking for damage limitation and defend his strikers ahead of their Champions League clash with Galatasaray, where his unguarded comments will no doubt be the main talking point of the press conference.
