Van Persie slams United teammates

Robin Van Persie last night blasted his team mates after their poor performance in Greece and claimed they were getting in his way, report the Daily Star.

The United striker endured a frustrating night and after seeing his side lose 2 - 0 to underdogs Olympiakos slammed their performance, stating that players were ‘often in his area’.

The Dutch forward said: “"It was quite difficult because my team-mates are often in the area where I want to play. That's why I have to change my tactics. Unfortunately, they are often in my area.

"It was much too slow today and we only had one shot on target in the whole match against Olympiakos, which is far too little. Everyone is very disappointed.”

The defeat leaves United needing to score three goals without reply in the reverse fixture to qualify for the quarter finals. And being out of both domestic cups this season, along with trailing fourth placed Liverpool by 11 points, means this is David Moyes only chance of silverware in his debut campaign.

However Van Persie believes that the deficit can be over turned at Old Trafford and is hoping for a much improved performance.

"It is still possible, because with all due respect to Olympiakos, we should be able to win 3-0 at home,” added Van Persie.

"It is not that they were fantastic (in the first leg), we just mostly failed.”
