Spurs skipper Dawson wants good response to defeat

With Tottenham losing two away games in a row and facing uphill battles both in the Premier League and the Europa League, club captain Michael Dawson has called for wins in their next two fixtures, their official website reports.

Spurs have seen themselves on the wrong end of two 1 - 0 defeats against opposition they were favoured to beat - FC Dnipro and relegation threatened Norwich, and will need a drastic improvement on performances to improve on the current disappointing trend.

Dawson told the club’s official website: “The first leg in Dnipro was a big disappointment and we wanted to go to Norwich and put that right.

“We didn’t do that, so we get another chance on Thursday back at the Lane, back in front of our fans and it’s a big game. It’s a competition we want to do well in so as disappointed as we are, we have to pick ourselves up. “

Tottenham will entertain Dnipro on Thursday at White Hart Lane attempting to overturn the one goal aggregate deficit, before welcoming league strugglers Cardiff on Sunday as they look to close the six point gap to fourth placed Liverpool.

Having lost ground in the race for Champions League qualification last weekend and with difficult tests against Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea coming up, Dawson is well aware of the importance of two good results.

He added: “We know the fans will be right behind us and they deserve a big performance after the two defeats we’ve had. In football, you always get another chance and on Thursday, we’ve got that and then on Sunday at home to Cardiff. These are two huge games for us.”
