Sherwood: Kane will get Tottenham chance
Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Tim Sherwood has told Harry Kane that he will be given an opportunity in the first team if he is willing to be patient, Sky Sports has reported.
Kane has backed up Tottenham’s senior strikers this season, acting as understudy to Roberto Soldado, Emmanuel Adebayor and the now departed Jermain Defoe.
Sherwood however believes Kane has stepped up following Defoe’s move to Toronto FC and will reward the youngster with a first team slot if the chance arises.
“Harry Kane has done brilliant. Since he's been back as the third striker he's been fantastic in training,” Sherwood said.
“He's had to be very patient,” Sherwood continued. “If I was Harry Kane, I'd be banging my door down every day and saying 'Why aren't I getting an opportunity to play' but he's respectful enough to know that we've got world-class strikers. He will get his time.”
The 20-year-old Kane has had a number of loan moves away from Spurs, spending time at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City, and has made only four starts in his career for his parent club.
Kane has a total of 18 appearances for Spurs, scoring twice.
