Lambert: More to come from Benteke
Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has said striker Christian Benteke still has room to improve after his two goals helped dispatch Norwich City on Sunday, Sky Sports has reported.
Benteke was prolific for the Midlands club last season, his first in the Premier League, but has endured a dry spell in the current campaign. That was until he netted a brace against the Canaries and Lambert believes Benteke can reach that level again on a regular basis.
“I think if he does over the second half of this season what he did last season then we're talking about having an absolute world-class player on our hands,” Lambert said.
“This season was always going to be hard for him,” the manager continued. “He's only been in Britain for a year and a half, and I think people forget that, and they forget his age as well.
“He's got the ability to be a top, top player, but he's still a long, long way to go before he hits the heights of his career. His two goals were fantastic though.”
The win sees Villa in 11th place in the Premier League table, seven points clear of the bottom three and five better off than Norwich, Lambert’s former side.
