Bendtner eyes Arsenal exit

Tuesday 04 March 2014

Danish forward Nicklas Bendtner has reiterated his desire to leave Arsenal in the summer in a bid to secure himself first team football, reports the Daily Mail.

Bendter has made just 14 appearances this season for the club, most coming on from the bench, and knows that if he is to keep his place in Denmark’s international set up he will need to play more regularly than currently doing so.

For now the striker is in the Danish squad to face England on Wednesday, and admitted before the game that he will look to leave the Emirates in the summer.

Bendtner said: “I’m not going to stay at Arsenal – first team football is what I’m after. The plan is for me to move on. I’m ready for a new challenge.”

The Danes narrowly missed out on qualification to the 2014 World Cup after becoming the weakest of the nine runners up from the group stages, finishing second to Italy.

And with an important qualifying campaign for Euro 2016 getting under way in the autumn, the 26 year old is aware of what he will have to do to remain at the front of his country’s attack.

The striker added: “I know of the conditions. To keep my spot I need to play regularly. My self-esteem and my confidence as a footballer has not changed, but there are many who think all I do is party, that I am completely indifferent to football, and it’s the wrong version of reality. When I find my right club, I am sure that everything will be all right in itself, if there are no more injuries.”
