Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has said that he hopes he still has time to make an impact at the club, according to Sky Sports.

The Denmark international has been struggling with an ankle injury he picked up on New Year’s Day and has been linked with moves away from the Emirates this summer.

Despite looking likely to make an exit from the Gunners, the 26-year-old is keen to improve his fitness and continue to play for the team.

"I am trying to keep myself as fit and sharp as possible,” said Bendtner.

"It is difficult when you only train, but I hope to play more, obviously.

"You can train as much as you like, but there is a big difference between training a lot and playing games on a regular basis.

"I could feel within myself that I have not played in a long time, but I am looking to make the change.

The Dane started in his side’s 1-0 defeat to England on Wednesday night and played an hour in the match before being substituted.

Although his side were defeated, Bendtner believes that the game could have gone differently if his side were more clinical.

"Kasper Schmeichel had a fantastic game and in the end they got the goal,” added Bendtner.

"It could have been a different game if we had scored our chance in the first half."
