Norwich manager Chris Hughton has refused to set a Premier League survival target for his side, according to Sky Sports.

The Canaries are just four points away from the relegation zone after last weekend’s 4-1 defeat to Aston Villa and will be looking to secure some points against Stoke on Saturday.

Despite sitting in fifteenth place, the 55-year-old is upbeat about his side’s fortunes and hopes to get back to winning ways.

"Our form has been up and down and we haven't had the consistency that we would have liked this season," he said.

"But we are in and around a group of teams in a similar position to ourselves and it's been shown in recent weeks what a win can do... and obviously what a defeat can do.

"The fact we are in a position like lots of other teams, we have to look after our own business and get the results we need to make life a little bit more comfortable for ourselves."

Some Premier League managers like to set a points target for their side to avoid relegation but Hughton has remained quiet on the matter.

The Norwich boss stated that his team needed to focus on getting as many points as they can and not worry about reaching a particular figure.

"To be honest, I just don't know,” added Hughton.

"And I don't want to be putting a figure on it. I just want to make sure we give ourselves every chance to get as many points as we can from every game we have to play.

"Whatever it takes, it will take, but we just want to concentrate on getting the results we need."
