Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis has insisted that his side have a great chance for Premier League survival despite many writing off their chances earlier this season, according to Sky Sports.

Since the New Year only Liverpool and Arsenal have managed more points at home than Palace, a run that has seen them escape the relegation zone by two places.

Pulis’ side still face a tough run going into the final stretch of the season, with matches against Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool all still to come, but the boss remains confident his side have what it takes to succeed.

"We know how tough this run is for us," said the 56-year-old.

"We have got it as tough as anybody in the bottom 10 but we will get our heads down and work as hard as we can.

"There are 10 or 11 teams still fighting for their lives and we are ahead of the game in a lot of respects because we are still in with a chance and nobody gave us that chance a short time ago.”

Palace’s more immediate concerns lie with Southampton, who will visit Selhurst Park on Saturday.

The former Stoke boss admitted that the Saints deserve credit for the way they have brought players through their academy and believes that they are making great strides for the English game.

"They have done it consistently for a long time," added Pulis.

"They haven't just stumbled over it. They have the jigsaw sorted out and all the pieces are in the right place, we don't do that a lot in this country.

"They don't worry about just the technical side of it, they look at attitude, commitment and responsibility. Most of the lads who have come out of that club are not only good players, they are good lads."
