Neville: Walker v Hazard battle will be crucial
Gary Neville has claimed that the match-up between Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard will be significant when the two sides meet on Saturday, according to The Daily Mail.
Hazard’s recent form for Chelsea has helped them to the top of the Premier League table ahead of a crucial game against London rivals and Champions League hopefuls Spurs.
Tottenham are currently in fifth place and looking for a result against the Blues which would enable them to gain ground on the top four in order to secure a place in Europe’s elite competition next season.
“It’s an intriguing game between Chelsea and Spurs in the wide areas. Kyle Walker – if he’s back fit from the injury that prevented him from playing for England in midweek – will be up against Eden Hazard,” said Neville.
“I think Hazard will pose problems… in the sense that he might not always go back to defend with him meaning he will be in a better position to quickly counter attack.
“It becomes a bit like a game of poker, you call each other’s bluff. The great players make you as a full back change your game.”
The two sides fought to a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane in September but both sides have changed significantly since the start of the season.
Spurs have undergone a change in management whereas Chelsea have become legitimate title challengers and it will be a tough ask for a Spurs side who has not won at Stamford Bridge since 1990.
