Ramires warns against Chelsea complacency
Having opened up a seven point lead in the title race, Chelsea midfielder Ramires admits there is no room for complacency, Sky Sports has reported.
The London club gave themselves breathing room in this year’s race for the title after their 4 - 0 derby thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur edged themselves further in front of their nearest rivals.
However, Jose Mourinho’s men have played more games than the chasing pack - Arsenal and Liverpool are both one game behind the Blues, while Manchester City have three fixtures in hand.
Were City to win those three games they would draw level on points with the Stamford Bridge club, and would top the table because of their superior goal difference so far this season.
As the race for the title enters its final stages, Ramires acknowledges that Chelsea have no room for error as the side in pole position.
Ramires said: “Manchester City have games in hand and a lot can happen.
"We have to keep focusing on a game at a time, we can't fall into the trap of thinking that everything is okay. Any slip-up could be fatal at this point in the league.”
The Brazilian also hailed the role that the Chelsea fans have played in their pursuit for silverware this season.
Ramires added: “The fans at Stamford Bridge have been our 12th player, they are creating an atmosphere which really helps our team.
"It's hard not to be excited right now but there is still a lot to be done before we can talk about the title."
