Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud believes that his team can cause an upset and turn around their Champions League last-16 tie against Bayern Munich, according to Arsenal.com.

The Gunners will be heading to Germany on Tuesday with a 2-0 deficit from the first leg but believe that last years performance at the Allianz Arena gives them confidence.

The London club went to Bayern’s home ground in similar circumstances at the same stage last year and went on to beat the European champions in their own backyard, despite going out of the competition.

“Hopefully we can keep a clean sheet first because we need to keep our goal clean and maybe if we score early, why not?” said Giroud.

“We have a good chance if we believe in our quality, and if we put the same commitment in [as against Everton] and the same determination I think we have a good chance.

“Bayern are a really good team so it will be a tough game, but I think we have a chance to go through.”

The Frenchman helped his side overcome Everton in the FA Cup quarter-finals at the weekend, adding two goals to his season tally.

The 27-year-old will now be hoping he can find the back of the net early on against the Germans as he did at the Allianz Arena one year ago.

“It will put them under pressure and trying to score early in the game will be one of the keys in the game,” added the forward.

“We need to keep a clean sheet and we will need a lot of things together; to score goals, not concede goals and [to show] a really good commitment.”
