Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes that his side can overcome Barcelona in their Champions League last-16 second leg and then go on to win the Premier League, according to Sky Sports.

City will head into the clash with Barcelona 2-0 down and on the back of being dumped out of the FA Cup quarter-finals by Wigan.

The Manchester club secured the League Cup last month but have been given a reality check as they were thrown out of the other domestic cup by Wigan and could be heading out of the Champions League in the same week.

Despite their recent shortcomings, Pellegrini has called for his side to focus on targeting more silverware this season.

"I think we all work together, we all have a responsibility to win,” said Pellegrini.

"We finished one trophy and we won that. Now we have to continue playing the Champions League and Premier League.

"We have a lot of things to fight for until the end of the season.”

The Chilean admitted that beating the Spanish giants was the priority but they must look beyond their next opponents and gain ground on Chelsea in the Premier League.

City are in fourth place in the league and nine points behind leaders Chelsea, however hold three games in hand over the London club.

If Pellegrini’s side were to win the three games then his team would go level with Chelsea on points and go top of the table due to their superior goal difference.

"First we must try to win in Barcelona and then continue to try to reach the top of the table with the three games we have in hand,” added the 60-year-old.

"We must react. We still have a possibility. We will try to do a very good game and we will see what happens against Barcelona.

"Winning always gives you confidence but maybe a game like this can bring a reaction from the team. It could be positive."
