Inter eye move for Torres or Dzeko

Having already secured the services of current Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic for next season Inter Milan are now targeting a proven goal scorer for their ranks, with the Telegraph reporting interest in Chelsea’s Fernando Torres as a prime target.

And if a swoop for British record £50m Torres fails, the club will turn their attention to Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko who could well prove to be a more realistic target.

The Italian giants are looking to rebuild their squad following the takeover of Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir, although funds will still be tight and unable to compete with the top European clubs come the summer transfer window.

While Spaniard Torres is believed to be first choice for Inter, he currently has two years left to run on a £150,000 a week contract and could prove too costly if he is unwilling to take any form of pay cut.

Dzeko on the other hand poses a more realistic option, entering the final 12 months of his contract at the end of the season and not first choice striker at City.

The £27m signing from Wolfsburg was blocked from leaving during the January transfer window by Manuel Pellegrini but it is thought that they will not stand in the Bosnian’s way should a suitable offer arise in the summer.

However Inter would face competition for the hitman, with Arsene Wenger credited with a long standing interest in Dzeko while Borrusia Dortmund are said to be monitoring the situation ahead of losing Robert Lewandowski’s departure.
