West Ham always supported Allardyce, says Brady

West Ham vice-chairman Karen Brady has said Sam Allardyce was never in danger of the sack, Sky Sports has reported.

Allardyce’s future appeared to be in doubt as the Hammers went through a poor run of form earlier in the season, with speculation the ex-Bolton, Newcastle and Blackburn manager was on the brink.

But Brady has said that was never the case, and believes the club’s patience has been rewarded with a run of results that has seen West Ham climb the table and Allardyce nominated for the February Manager of the Month award.

“Our faith in him never wavered,” Brady said. “We didn't sack him, and we never really thought about it.

“The easy part is sacking the manager - the hard part is finding someone better to replace them with. If we were in that position, Sam Allardyce would be the man we would try and find to get us out of the mess - and we already had him there.”

West Ham are now 10th in the table having gone five games unbeaten between the end of January and the beginning of March. West Ham kept four clean sheets in five games until their run was ended by a 1-0 defeat by Everton at Goodison Park.
