Chelsea could have Torres fit for Champions League

Jose Mourinho could be able to call on striker Fernando Torres in Chelsea’s Champions League tie with Galatasaray, the Daily Mail has reported.

Torres was injured in the warm-up prior to Chelsea’s game against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. The former Liverpool forward had to pull out of the starting XI but Chelsea won 4-0 despite his absence.


Having had intensive treatment through the week it is thought Torres could make the game against the Turkish side. Chelsea host Gala on Tuesday after drawing 1-1 in the first leg in Turkey, with Torres on the score sheet.


Samuel Eto’o replaced Torres against Spurs and scored but Torres is due back in full training before the end of the week.


Torres moved to Stamford Bridge in the winter transfer window of the 2010-11 season, He has since gone on to score 44 goals in 159 games, including nine in 28 this season.


The 29-year-old moved to Anfield from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2007, having come through the youth set-up at Vicente Calderon. He scored 84 times for Atletico and recorded 81 goals in 142 games for Liverpool.
