Cantona arrested in London
Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has been arrested in London following reports of an assault, according to Sky Sports.
The former United star was taken into custody by Metropolitan police following an incident close to Chalk Farm Tube Station.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: "Police were called to Regents Park Road, NW1, at 12.55pm on Wednesday 12th March, following reports of an assault.
"Officers from Camden Borough attended and a man in his mid-40s was arrested on suspicion of common assault.
"He was taken into custody and subsequently cautioned for common assault.
"The victim, a man, did not require medical assistance at the scene."
It is not yet known if the victim will press charges at this time.
The 47-year-old has a history of assault when he was convicted of assaulting Crystal Palace fan Matthew Simmons in 1995 and was sentenced to two weeks in prison.
Cantona was also banned by the FA for eight months and fined £10,000.
Despite his past altercations, the football star is best known for his performances in a Manchester United shirt, scoring 64 goals in 143 appearances for the Red Devils.
