Southampton vs Norwich - Premier League preview and team news

Friday 14 March 2014

Relegation-threatened Norwich City will be looking to widen the gap between themselves and the relegation zone with victory at Southampton.

The hosts ended a three game losing streak last time out with a deserved win at Crystal Palace, with Jay Rodriguez grabbing the winner in a game where their opponents were restricted to very few chances. With a top half finish all but secured, manager Mauricio Pochettino will only be focused on finishing as high as he can in his first full season on the South coast.

Norwich were unable to bounce back from a disappointing result at Aston Villa by taking all three points against Stoke City. Instead, the goal they conceded from the penalty spot has added to their anxiety in the race for survival, as they will want to develop a healthy cushion above the bottom three before they finish the season against four of the current top six. As it stands, the gap stands at four points.

Southampton will be without goalkeeper Kelvin Davis, and they have doubts over defender Jos Hooiveld and midfielder Jack Cork.

Chris Hughton’s men are still unable to call upon injured quartet Elliott Bennett, Jonas Gutierrez, Leroy Fer and Michael Turner.
