Hull vs Man City - Premier League preview and team news

Friday 14 March 2014

After experiencing mixed fortunes in the three cup competitions, Manchester City return to league action with a trip to Hull City.

This is the third successive home match for Hull, who recovered very well from the shock of conceding four against Newcastle United by scoring three without reply to beat Sunderland and make the semi-finals of the FA Cup. The focus now for Steve Bruce’s men ahead of their Wembley date with Sheffield United is to move clear of the relegation zone. They are currently five points ahead of the bottom three.

Man City won the Capital One Cup at the beginning of March, but hopes of a quadruple have been ended by a shock defeat to Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup and their failure to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Barcelona in the Champions League. Now only the Premier League remains, and they are playing catch-up with three games in hand on leaders Chelsea, with nine points currently separating the sides.

Hull welcome back Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long to their attack after they were cup-tied for the Sunderland match. James Chester also returns from a hamstring problem.

Sergio Aguero is likely to be out after being substituted at half time at the Nou Camp, while Matija Nastasic and Stevan Jovetic are still unavailable.
