Aston Villa vs Chelsea - Premier League preview and team news

Premier League leaders Chelsea will be looking to maintain their commanding lead at the top by winning at Aston Villa on Saturday.

There was plenty of concern and anxiety around Villa Park as Wes Hoolahan put Norwich City in front in their previous game, but a magnificent overhead kick from Christian Benteke totally changed the game, as Paul Lambert’s side scored four times in the space of 15 minutes to move six points clear of the bottom three. Two more wins should be enough to ensure top-flight status is retained.

The hosts will be hoping that Chelsea will be distracted by their upcoming Champions League meeting with Galatasaray, but manager Jose Mourinho would not allow his team to take their eye off the ball. The Blues were lacking inspiration for 58 minutes against Tottenham last time out, but saw their rivals crumble as they opened up a seven point lead at the summit.

Aston Villa will be without Ryan Bertrand, who is unable to face his parent club, while Libor Kozak, Charles N’Zogbia and Jores Okore are all out injured.

The away side could be without Fernando Torres after the striker was injured in the warm-up ahead of the Tottenham game. David Luiz and Ashley Cole are also slight doubts.
