Rose: Tottenham players happy under Sherwood

Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose has insisted he and his teammates are happy playing under Tim Sherwood, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

Rose added that the team has not given up on claiming a Champions League place this season despite the weekend’s defeat to Arsenal leaving Spurs seven points behind fourth-place Manchester City, having played 30 games to City’s 27.

“You don’t know what’s going to happen,” Rose said. “We just want the fans to stick by us and obviously we would like a bit of continuity with a manager and we’ll all be fighting to put it right, to get the top four maybe next season.

“You look at the best teams and they do well when they do have a manager to work with for a long time. Everyone loves Tim and the coaching staff.”

The defeat by the Gunners saw Tottenham slip nine points behind their North London rivals, while Arsenal also have a game in hand. Sherwood was visibly agitated on the touchline but Rose says it’s not a bad thing for the Head Coach to show his emotion.

“You can tell that he’s passionate and he loves the club. He knows the club from the first-team down to the under-nines,” Rose said of Sherwood, who replaced Andre Villas-Boas in December.

Rose has made 21 appearances for the club this season, scoring once, having spent time on loan at Sunderland last year and at the likes of Bristol City, Watford and Peterborough since moving to Spurs from Leeds in 2007.
