Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has said he would be happy to spend his entire career with the Gunners, Sky Sports has reported.

The 23-year-old is under a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium and is the first choice of manager Arsene Wenger, having seen off competition from fellow Poland international Lukasz Fabianski.

Szczesny told a Polish newspaper that if Arsenal asked him to commit his full career to the club, he’d do so in a heartbeat. “If they give me a contract to the end of my career, I'd sign it without any hesitation,” he told Przeglad Sportowy.

“I feel attached to the club and the coach who has given me a chance,” Szczesny added regarding Wenger. “There are not many who would do that but I must have been good. I see the future here.”

It has been suggested that Arsenal could move for Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas, the Spain national team captain who is no longer first choice for La Liga fixtures at Santiago Bernabeu. But Szczesny said that whoever he has to compete with for the gloves, he will stay in North London.

“I'll play at Arsenal as long as am wanted here. I am not afraid to fight for number one with anyone: Fabianski or Casillas,” Szczesny continued. “I hope I won't make the boss think, 'Wojciech's not No.1. It's all in my hands. I am in the best form of my life.”

Szczesny made his Arsenal debut in the 2009-10 season, playing in the League Cup. The same year he played almost 30 games on loan at Brentford and the season after he began to establish himself as first choice. In 2011-12 he played every league game for Arsenal and has made a total 143 appearances for the club.
