Man Utd's Van Persie fit for derby

Thursday 20 March 2014

Robin van Persie will be fit to line-up for Manchester United against Manchester City despite being stretchered off late in the 3-0 Champions League win over Olympiakos on Wednesday, the Daily Mail has reported.

Robin van Persie

Van Persie scored all three goals as United overturned a 2-0 first leg defeat to progress to the competition’s quarter-finals. The draw is on Friday and United are in the mix with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

But before the tournament resumes United have to play West Ham on Saturday and Manchester City on Tuesday in Premier League action. It was feared van Persie faced a spell on the sidelines after appearing to suffer an injury in the final minutes of the win over the Greek side, but the Mail says the Dutchman hasn’t been hit by a serious problem.

Van Persie’s back is the area causing concern and while further tests will be carried on Thursday, it is thought van Persie will at least be ready to play City at Old Trafford. He is though a doubt for the trip to Upton Park to meet the Hammers.
