Fulham game bigger than Manchester derby, claims Navas
Manchester City winger Jesus Navas has insisted that his side’s meeting with Fulham is a more important game than the Manchester derby on Tuesday, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Last season’s Premier League runners-up are currently lying in fourth place, but have games in hand on all of their rivals, including three on leaders Chelsea, whom they trail by six points.
Fulham visit the Etihad Stadium on Saturday as the Premier League’s bottom club and battling for survival, while they face a trip to bitter rivals Manchester United on Tuesday, in the first of their games in hand.
And Navas believes that the game against Fulham takes on greater importance than the Manchester derby. He said: “We are not thinking about the Manchester derby, we are only focused on the Fulham game.
“This would be three very important points for us and when the game finishes then we will think about United. It is more difficult to play against teams that are fighting to avoid relegation because they defend very well and that playing style is the most difficult for us when they come and try to defend.”
