Man Utd not getting the best from Mata, says Silva

Manchester City midfielder David Silva believes Manchester United aren’t getting the best out of Juan Mata, the Independent has reported.

Juan Mata

Mata moved to United from Chelsea in the January transfer window and while Silva believes his old Valencia colleague made the right decision to swap the Blues for the Red Devils, he doesn’t feel United have seen the best of him.

“It is a difficult situation for him because the team is not playing that well,” Silva said. “They have not managed to bring out the best out in him but he is a very talented player and he will show it.

“He wasn't getting the minutes at Chelsea so it was a good move for him to go to United. I have been out to dinner with him and his family and we are friends. Anything he needs, he knows he can come to me for. Maybe after the game we can have a meal; it depends.”

Silva and Mata will be in opposition on Tuesday as City and United play the final Manchester derby of the season at Old Trafford. City go into the game in third place, six points behind league leaders Chelsea but with three games in hand.

United, meanwhile, are seventh, 12 points adrift of City and 18 off top spot. They were beaten 4-1 by City earlier in the season, David Moyes’ first derby as United manager.
